Lastly, if you are sensitive to noises in the night you may want to have a sound machine, or have a fan running so that you have one steady sound to help promote sleep. Interrupted sleep is just as bad as not getting enough sleep.
How To Get Better Sleep
There are many factors that can either promote or ruin a good night’s sleep. Eating too close to bed can make it harder to sleep, and drinking too much before bed can cause you to wake up numerous times in the night to take a trip to the bathroom.
Not only do you need to pay attention to the things you do before you go to bed, you also want to make sure that you go to bed the same time every night and wake up the same time each morning, even on your days off. A regular sleep schedule helps promote good sleep.
As far as how much sleep you need. There are different sleep recommendations for different ages, but for most adults seven to nine hours is a good range for optimal sleep. You’ll be able to tell if you’ve gotten a good amount by how refreshed you feel when you get up in the morning.
